An overview of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) in relation to assessments of capacity, considering best interests, upholding rights and considering safeguarding.
To revisit the Mental Capacity Act and its application in practice
Consider case law regarding the interface between best interests and wellbeing
Reflect upon the tensions associated with balancing safeguarding and the application of the MCA in relation to people\'s emotional wellbeing.
Who should attend?
AMHPs (newly qualified AMHPs in particular), Social Workers, Social Care Staff and Health colleagues.
About the facilitator:
Matt Graham, UCLan Senior Lecturer. Matt has extensive experience in mental health practice as well as lecturing and publishing in relation to risk, safeguarding, mental capacity and legislation.

This session does not include an assessment. On completion, participants will be provided with a certificate of attendance which will include the CPD hours achieved.
