Brief summary:

This one day workshop will provide an opportunity for learning and discussion focusing on key developments of law and practice in relation to the DoLS process. Facilitated by an experienced barrister, the session will draw on recent case law to critically examine implications for Best Interest Assessors (BIAs), Supervisory Bodies and Managing Authorities. The workshop will offer a chance for BIAs and other attendees to reflect on lessons to be drawn from those cases where poor or unsatisfactory practice has been highlighted, and to consider best practice and how this can be achieved.

Who should attend?

This is aimed primarily at practitioners who are qualified BIAs and need to undertake annual refresher training. It may also be of benefit to designated signatories and MCA/DoLS leads within Supervisory Bodies, to Registered Managers within Managing Authorities, or to a range of other practitioners who wish to extend their knowledge or further their Continuing Professional Development.

This session does not include an assessment. On completion, a certificate of attendance will be provided which can be used to evidence completion of refresher training and/or evidence CPD in line with professional body requirements.
